Located on the campus of Studio School in Los Angeles Center Studios, the Joseph Campbell Writers’ Room is a resource and community center for storytellers and mythologists.
Education at Studio School gives unique emphasis to the convergence of mythological studies and powerful storytelling. This takes the form of courses, projects, guest lectures and departmental through-lines that give focus to story and the power of myth. Some courses and lectures are offered by the Joseph Campbell Writers’ Room, others exist within its sphere of nurture and support.

Resources in the Joseph Campbell Writers’ Room have been donated by supporting organizations committed to the practice of story and/or study of myth. Contributions from Joseph Campbell Foundation, Jung Institute of Los Angeles, Mythouse and Philosophical Research Society range from works on cultural and comparative mythology to depth psychology and the study of story.
Tools within the resources include shelves dedicated to symbolic imagery, archetypal character, motifs and mythic story structure. These are designed to support the symbolic and archetypal development of mythic imagery, character and narrative.
